From The Trails

April 27th, 2020

The TDD club is preparing for the 2020 riding season. We have gotten out onto the trails and over the last few days and past weekends have completed our Spring opening maintance tasks.

Tasks included clearing all trails of trees and debris, signing maintenanceand reviewing surfaces for any needed maintence, such as draining and filling wet locations.

As always, the Paul Bunyan State Forest [PBSF] is closed until the MN-DNR has the conditions ready for use. That includes frost out of the ground and tread ways dry. When that occurs, they will post the trails Openfor use on the MN-DNR WEB page.

We can only ask you to always monitor this WEB page for trail openings and closings.

We started with a fair amount of snow on our trails 1 week ago, and now Mother Nature is taking care of us, temperatures, winds & humidity have been working in our favor, with truly little snow remaining.

The TDD have been working on improving our trail signage. It was a project that started at the end of 2019 and we plan to have the whole trail system updated by the end of 2020.

We hope you enjoy your Rides.

Additionally, we will again have a fair amount of logging operations effect the “Temporary Closures” of our trails during the season.

The Timberland Dirt Devils ATV/UTV Club annually sets up goals with objectives coordinated with the MN-DNR Park & Trails and Forestry Department of trail conditions requires by the MN-DNR Parks and Trails.

Things to know:

  1. ATVAM.orgWe have a trail crew of 2 people [with social distancing if required] that run our 42 miles of ATV/UTV trails, minimum maintenance roads [MMR] and forest roads almost every week, prior to weekend traffic. They are clearing trails, watching for environmental damage, trail signage and any other hazards that present themselves. If you see them working and need help, do not be hesitant to stop and ask.
  2. All our Trail maintence crew members are members of the Club, so if you would like to help with trails, please join[Application is on front page}!That membership fee to the TDD also gets you your annual membership the ATVAM (the statewide organization that works hard for all “Wheelers” to keep trails open and moving on with a strong future vision)!

We will then send out our 2020 Trail Maintence Crew Guidelines, provide you with an educational operations overview and get you going with things

  3. Annually, we spend 18-20 full days reconditioning, routing and keeping trails in good environmental condition so we can all enjoy now… and in the future. “We Work!-We Ride!”

Please look at our new map for the next few years. We have added a “Downloadable KMZ file of our map to load into your GPS/Garmin devices. And take a look at all the activities that the Team at TDD supports annually.
